Distinctive Baby Names from West Virginia

West Virginia became the 35th state in the union in 1863. In 1861, voters supported the creation of a new state which was to be called Kanawha. A convention was then held in Wheeling and the name was changed to West Virginia. In 1908, the congregation of Andrews Church celebrated the first Mother's Day. Today, mothers...and fathers...often choose classic names for their children. You will find Okey and Hobert on lists of popular boy names and Wilda and Dottie on lists of popular girl names.
